The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a sacrament in which the priest, as the agent of God, forgives sins committed after Baptism. Preparing to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance) for the first time is an exciting time. The sacrament of Reconciliation gives us the right to whatever actual graces we may need, and as we need them, in order that we may make atonement for our past sins and may conquer our future temptations.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation must be received before the Sacrament of First Holy Communion is received.
First Step: Registration Process
Please complete the attached registration form if you wish your child to prepare for the sacraments in 2018. This form needs to be handed into the parish office together with copies of your child’s Baptism certificate (for all sacraments).
Forms need to be handed into the office by 31 October, prior to the commencement of the Sacramental Preparation process .
Second Step: The preparation process includes weekly attendance at classes at 4pm on Saturday 10 Nov, 17 Nov, 24 Nov. A parent or guardian must accompany their child during the classes.
Ceremony: on Saturday 1st December at 3.30pm in the Parish Church
Rite of Acceptance Ceremony: This is a simple ceremony occurring at each Saturday evening Mass following the preparation sessions.
It is a very meaningful way of allowing the whole community to join with you and your children as they prepare to receive a Sacrament.
Fees - First Reconciliation: $20.00
The fee, which will assist in covering the cost of materials is payable on registration.
